Celebrating 50 years in 2024
Our continuing mission is to foster long-term relationships between our Distributor members and our Manufacturer Partners in the Gro Group Network with an objective to help competitively position Independent Retailers in their market.
Our History
The company was established in 1974 by a small group of East Coast lawn and garden Distributors. By the late ‘70s, Distributor membership began to expand across the United States. In the early ‘90s, the members agreed to expand further to include Canadian Distributors. Today, Gro Group is an elite North American network of Distributors, with more than 550 Professional salespeople who service over 32,000 retail locations.
In the early days, Gro Group established a Merchandise Team, which today includes senior decision-makers from each Distributor member. Cultivating long-term strategic partnerships with manufacturers in the Network is a top priority for the Team as is the ongoing development and procurement of high quality, regionally appropriate products, across all lawn and garden categories, that will appeal to today’s consumer.
annual kick-off event –
The Annual Gro Group Kick-Off event every June is a can’t-miss opportunity for Manufacturer Partners and Distributor partners to come together. Manufacturers are guaranteed 1-on-1 meetings with decision-makers and key members of their sales teams from each Gro Group Distributor Partner. The Kick-Off event is the perfect time to evaluate product lines for the new season, discuss the prior year, and review Partner specific topics relevant to the mutual goal of growing the business in each market.
